The Today Show Interview

The Today Show Interview

I don’t know if you are an avid Today Show watcher like me but, yesterday morning they aired a story about electronic cigarettes. There were some good points about the safety of the product I think everyone and especially every parent should be aware of. There are some I think misconceptions about the story like they left a few things out but, that’s just my opinion. The interview featured Matt Lauer and Dr. Nancy Snyderman.
“Many people think smoking e-cigarettes is safer, but experts are increasingly worried about accidental poisoning from liquid nicotine, a key ingredient used in “vaping.”
“The e-cigarettes, also known as vaporizers, work by converting liquid nicotine into vapor that smokers inhale. Because e-cigarettes are relatively new, it’s unknown whether they have long-term potential to help people quit smoking, like gum or the patch.”
“E-cigarettes eliminate risks from more than 60 cancer-causing chemicals found in tobacco smoke, but they do contain toxic ingredients such as diethylene glycol (found in anti-freeze) and propylene glycol (a lung irritant found in fake smoke machines).”
Just FYI- The diethylene glycol is found is found in anti-freeze but, what they are leaving out is that is an ingredient in NON-TOXIC anti-freeze.
                                                                          AND
PG- is found in everything we use on a daily basis. From things like food, baby products, and any body care items!
It just makes me wanna say DUH! Really, it almost sounds like a one sided story so far!

“While some e-cigarettes come pre-loaded with liquid nicotine, others need to be refilled with liquid nicotine, which is extremely toxic, especially for children.”
“There was a 307 percent increase in total e-cigarette related poisoning cases from 2012-2013, according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers. Liquid nicotine, also called e-liquid, is a potential toxin when ingested and when it comes into contact with skin. Some potential symptoms of exposure to nicotine include rapid heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and dizziness. Severe exposure can potentially cause seizures leading to coma and death.”
“The California Poison Control Center says a teaspoon to a child can cause seizures and a tablespoon for an adult can cause death, Snyderman said.”
“While [liquid nicotine] is a neurotoxin that doesn’t cause cancer, it does directly affect the brain,” said Snyderman.”
Now, Flavor Vapor uses synthetic nicotine so, I can’t say for sure if is as toxic as real plant derived nicotine but, I would caution everyone and anyone to handle with care and don’t let kids around it. Are they embellishing the truth? Yes, I think so, just in my experience with e-juice the worst side effect I had from handling to much e-juice was a little jittery ( a nicotine high) I don’t use but, 6mg of nicotine in my juice so, higher than that I can tell. Another point that they made in this story was that they think that e-cigs are gateway devices to real traditional cigs. This again maybe true to some effect but, I think it’s not the e-cig that is making the kids want to try real cigs but, I think it’s more like the people around them. Granted my husband is not a kid but, when he first started vaping his friends who did not know much about e-cigs made fun of him and told him that he wasn’t man enough to handle a real cigarette. This didn’t detour him from vaping but, for some impressionable kids it could. Plus, kids shouldn’t have the option to own or even try e-cigs until they are 18 or whatever the law is in their state.
Have you smelled a cigarette after vaping for an extended period of time? It stinks! It makes me gag! Even though I smoked traditional cigarettes in the past I could not handle being around them at all, not even smelling the lingering smell on someone’s clothing.

I don’t know about you I kinda excited and kind of wary. I love the idea that it is made for the car and they have extended the voltage power. My big question of the day would have to be “Is it safe to leave in a hot Oklahoma Summer day in the car?” I would hope something made for the car they would address the possible battery explosion issue that all batterys not just vape batterys have.  There really isn’t to many photos but, It does look pretty cool! Would you buy one just for your car?
We would love to read your suggestions, comments, or questions! Please find us on our Facebook, Twitter or website to leave you comment! As always “ Vaping Kicks Ash”!!! “ Vaping Kicks Ash”!!!

Vaping Hangouts

Vaping Hangouts

There are designated places to light up a traditional cigarette but, there are no specific areas that vaping is allowed this has caused some very angry business owners. Vaping doesn’t smell like traditional cigarettes and vaping only produces a scented vapor when exhaled. The differences are like North and South when you compare traditional cigarettes and electronic cigarettes. The only fair comparison that can be made is that both are inhaled and exhaled and some e-cigs resemble their ancient ancestors.
There have been questions that have arisen from e-cigs popularity and many new boundaries that have been drawn from the lack regulations and common sense.  This has given the anti-vaper community arsenal to protest vape pen’s use and even sales in some states. There has been a discussion that has been up for consideration to create vaping zones in airports. This is a great idea in the fact that this would open the doors for other areas just for vaping. Instead of fighting e-cigs and the use of them by the patrons of the businesses there should be vaping zones in areas that are big enough like malls, movie theaters, and public parks. This way everyone is happy. People can still use their personal vaporizers and business owners don’t have to worry about others complaining about the vapor.
There are countless stories and articles about banning the use of e-cigs on college campuses, public areas and even cities! The backlash of LA’s ban of e-cigs is heating up with many advocates taking to media. Their stories cover Twitter, Facebook and to their local government. So, what is the government lifted the ban on e-cigs and instead created vaping zones? If the businesses like clubs agree that they would allow vaping in their businesses I think everything would be better for the vaping community. This would still allow the state or city to gain tax revenue from new businesses, more workers, and continued sale of vaping supplies. If a large metropolitan city like LA did something like this it would create a plan that other cities and states could follow to embrace vaping instead of fighting the inevitable use of vape pens.
Do you have any ideas that could be proposed to the governments near and far to pave the way for the vaping community to advance instead of being shut down? If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please comment below or you can find us on Facebook or Twitter!
