Tricking Teens

There has been a lot of talk among
law makers that e-cigarettes are attracting too many children (less than 18
years of age). Personally, I don’t feel like it has the appeal that “it’s cool”
but, that’s also coming from someone that isn’t in high school anymore either.
I started looking on the internet for a “teen’s opinion of e-cigs”. There have
been numerous claims that you can find “teens” putting videos on YouTube vaping
but, no such luck. I did find some funny videos of people making fun of vaping
but, other than that a lot of political opinion.
I do believe
that teen vapers are giving the rest of the vaping community a bad appearance.
However, there is hope for the vaping community. Each state has the power to
regulate the laws in each state. In Oklahoma there have already been
regulations in place where minors cannot purchase vaping supplies. I know each
state is different and some are more stringent than others but, my hope is that
each state will regulate e-cigs or vape pens before the Federal Government has
to step in.
Since,
the recent Golden Globes skit that featured an e-cig the government has felt
more pressure to make a move in regulating e-cigarettes. Even this past week a
local new program featured commercial has been about “The Wild West of E-Cigarettes”.
This topic lost steam after the FDA decided
not to regulate them in October of 2013 but, now it seems like the discussion has
vamped up twice as much. Do you think it is because of the celebrities on
national TV that made people so mad? The
celebrities influence on young children? Or maybe the less obvious is because; they
found an excuse to be pissed off again?
I would love to get the conversation started about what you
think! Please go to either link or comment below!
